Indelas i sju dialekter

This statement rather puzzles me. It is true that one can detect slight differences in pronunciation between different "villages" (rhula), and possibly the pronunciation in the smaller island Gozo (Ghawdex) can justify the designation dialect. But the other six? Where does the statement come from?
