English: Very early Scalextric slot car models in 1:30 scale, circa 1957. These pressed-steel-bodied racers were electric adaptations of Scalex clockwork-powered cars, and are among the first commercially-offered slot cars of the modern era. They represent the Maserati F250 (left) and the Ferrari 375 Grand Prix cars.

This image was created by me in Photoshop CS Version 8. It is a heavily modified combination of two separate photos from an auction site. The original subjects of the photos were damaged and partially rusted examples. I used them as a basis for a "photo-restoration" to show the models in original condition. Modifications include: corrections of dirt and discoloration, rust spots, dents, missing and peeling paint; addition of missing parts; entirely new background; combination of two single image photos into one dual-image photo; perspective correction, extensive modification of highlights to clarify form and for aesthetics. This constitutes substantial modification of the original images (in fact, there is hardly an original pixel remaining on the bodies of the cars), and as such constitutes a new work under US copyright law.
