This is the page where you ask for permission to run a bot on Swedish Wikipedia. Please observe:

• Create a separate user account for your bot. We recommend that the name of your bot includes the word "bot" or other variations.
• The template {{bot|bot master's name|site=home site}} is required on the bot's user page.
• The user page of the bot should include a description of the tasks it is doing.
• Global bots are enabled on svwiki. If you intend to run an iw-bot, consider applying for global bot status instead at meta.

Operators of global bots using pywikipedia might receive messages that says something like the bot has not bot status and might be blocked. This message may be suppressed by setting notify_unflagged_bot = False in user-config.py.

Bots without a bot flag should wait at least 30 seconds between edits. Bots with a bot flag should wait about 10 seconds between edits. Administrators are encouraged to block bots that are harmful, run too fast or do somehing else than described in the application to run it.

Instruktioner / Instructions

Before application you have to:

1. Put the mandatory template {{bot|bot master's name|site=home site}} on the bot's user page.
2. Describe the functions of the bot on its user page.

Post your entries at the top of the "New requests" section below and tell us what kind of bot it is (pywikipedia? your own construction?) and exactly what it will do. If your bot is an ordinary pywikipedia interwiki bot, you may start test-run immediately. If your bot is of another construction or is going to do something more complex, then wait a couple of days, if no one opposes, you can test-run your bot so the users at svwiki can see it in action. Either way, make sure at least one user who have seen your bot at work signs that they accept your bot. When the bot has been accepted it may get a bot flag from one of our bureaucrats.

Please copy this form for your application. The title should be Your bot's name.

Hi there. It has been requesterd that I comment here. The reason why I requested the bot flag is so that this doesn't flood recent changes, I've had to make many edits on some wikis and not having the bot flag could potentially flood the recent changes. About the name.. this isn't a bot, on a few occasions I do use AutoWikiBrowser for mass-linked images but otherwise I approve every diff before it goes live. It's also not manual as the script updates the page via the API. I don't usually check back here often, but if I'm needed you can always contact me on my meta talk page :-) Thanks! Most of the edits look good to me. However, I feel a bit uneasy about this removal. After all, the nlwp entry Folgefonnagletsjer redirects to Nationaal park Folgefonna, the removed entry. Likewise, I find the removals in this edit a bit questionable. Comments wellcome, both from the bot owner and other members. / Ternarius_D 22 januari 2012 kl. 17.07 (CET)

I´m going to give you quite an detailed report on those two edits.

• In the first edit you mentioned, en.wiki, no.wiki, de.wiki and sv.wiki have two articles, one about the glacier(s) and the other about the national park. With the knowledge I have in danish I know that the swedish article that you provided a link to is about the glacier. The nlwp page however is about the national park and cannot link to the sv page as that would be an interwiki conflict. I am aware that "Folgefonnagletsjer" means "Folgefonna glacier", but it is really the article itself that matters, not the redirect.
• In the second edit you mentioned, there is an interwiki conflict between articles about Greenwitch Mean Time, Universal Time and Time standard. This interwiki conflict is somewhat more complicated than the the one I mentioned above. The pl-article is unclear and even has a template where the mixed use of Greenwitch mean time, Coordinated universal time and Time standard is criticised, as it should only cover one subject but not three at it currently does. Czas would be translated as time and uniwersalny as universal, so the translated title would be Universal time and based on that I decided to remove the pl.wiki link from articles about Greenwitch mean time. An translation of the ur-wiki article gives that it is about Central European time. Althrough CET is based on GMT, it is not exactly the same thing as it covers the GMT time zone in central europe (GMT +2) and therefore I removed that link as well.--Snaevar 25 januari 2012 kl. 18.38 (CET)

"Near hits" will make it very difficult (read impossible) for unsupervised iw-bot's to handle linking on such pages. I guess that is why some botowners prefer to remove a link, rather than accept them. And normally is iw-linking to redirects not allowed by unsupervised iw-bots, since that most often indicates that a page has been moved. Personally I like botowners who is ambitious to solve our iw-conflicts, but it's by it's nature a very difficult task. -- Lavallen 26 januari 2012 kl. 19.56 (CET) (But I am not a crat, and do not wish to be a judge in the specific case.)

• Uppgifter: På sikt vill jag genomföra det projekt med autoskapande av artiklar som diskuterats på Bybrunnen nyligen. Men jag vill först lära mig robothantering med lite enklare uppgifter. Första testet är tänkt att bli att skapa omdirigeringar från vetenskapligt till svenskt namn för de djurarter som inte har det. Men det tar nog några dagar att komma igång, Python är nytt för mig.

Har gjort en handfull provredigeringar nu, utan synbara problem. Men mitt i alltihop så kom ett meddelande i mitt robotfönster "NOTE: You have new message on Wikipedia:sv". Jag trodde det betydde att boten fått ett meddelande på diskussionssidan, men där fanns inget. Vad pågår? Lsj 31 januari 2012 kl. 14.47 (CET)

Du har inloggad som Lsj gjort en omdirigering av botens disksida, vilket tolkas som att boten fått ett meddelande. Logga in som vanligt, men med botkontot, och deaktivera meddelandet (klicka bort det oranga bannern) så ska det försvinna. Det gick lite väl fort där i slutet. Hastighetsbegränsningen på max två redigeringarn per minut är framförallt för att inte "dränka" Senaste ändringar så man inte hinner se eventuella klotter däremellan. Jag trodde parametern -putthrottle i pywikipediabot skulle hålla nere hastigheten. Vid min dator såg det också ut som om roboten pausade 20 sekunder mellan varje redigering. Men du har rätt, jag ser på bidragslistan att visst gick det mycket fortare än så på slutet. Ber om ursäkt för det. Hur gör man för att bromsa om inte -putthrottle hjälper? Hade också för mig att det var putthrottle som var "gas/broms" (stavning?). Själv har jag vid tillfällen använt -putthrottle:30 (minst 30 sekunder mellan varje redigering). Jag vet inte heller hur man styr hastigheten i pywikipedia, men om vi nu sätter den där flaggan, så behöver vi inte bekymra oss på samma sätt längre.
