Melanocetus johnsonii[3] är en fiskart som beskrevs av Günther, 1864. Melanocetus johnsonii ingår i släktet Melanocetus, och familjen Melanocetidae.[4][5] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[4]
M. johnsonii har ett fångstredskap i pannan för att locka sina byten. Det är ett exempel på mimikry som kallas Peckhams mimikry, eller aggressiv mimikry.[6]
