  1. ↑ According to Gillespie, Ric: Finding Amelia, ISBN 1591143195, p. 40; they took off from Natal on June 7, which is confirmed by Rafford, Paul Jr.: Amelia Earhart's Radio, ISBN 1891030353, p. 41, who also writes they arrived on June 6. Getty claims 1937-06-11, but if that'd be true, the loaction would be wrong. FOXNews/AP claims 1937-06-18, but according to this flight plan, they were already in India by June 16, so that's clearly not possible. Getty's date is maybe the date the image was received by the agency in the UK, or the publication date. On June 11, Earhart and Noonan were in Gao and Fort Lamy according to Rafford.
