Winsted är en stad i Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA.
Namn
[redigera | redigera wikitext]Staden fick sitt namn genom en kombination av Winchester och grannkommunen Barkhamsted.[4]
Historia
[redigera | redigera wikitext]Winsted blev först borough 1858 innan den 1917 blev inkorporerad som stad.[4]

[redigera | redigera wikitext]Staden hade riklig tillgång på vattenkraft från Highland Lake, med ett vattenfall på 46 meter, samt från Mad River.[4]
Industri
[redigera | redigera wikitext]Den rikliga tillgången till vattenkraft möjliggjorde under 1800-talet tillverkning av olika metall-, trä- och läderprodukter, bland annat klockor. Under 2020-talet var stadens ekonomi främst inriktad på tillverkning av olika ingenjörsprodukter.[4]
