Du har två kor

Du har två kor är ett talesätt som är en typ av politiskt skämt. Skämtet beskriver vad olika politiska system gör om du har två kor.

Skämtet förekom i The Modern Language Journal 1936 och hade då lydelsen:

• Socialism: If you have two cows, you give one to your neighbor.
• Communism: If you have two cows, you give them to the government and the government then gives you some milk.
• Fascism: If you have two cows, you keep the cows and give the milk to the government; then the government sells you some milk.
• New Dealism: If you have two cows, you shoot one and milk the other; then you pour the milk down the drain.
• Nazism: If you have two cows, the government shoots you and keeps the cows.
• Capitalism: If you have two cows, you sell one and buy a bull.

Skämtet har ibland återkommit i nya tappningar. I samband med Enron-skandalen 2001 förekom följande version som definition på "Enronism":

• You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by your CFO who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on six more.

• Socialism: Du har två kor. Staten tar en och ger till din granne.
• Kommunism: Du har två kor. Staten tar båda och ger dig mjölk.
• Fascism: Du har två kor. Staten tar båda, skjuter den ena och säljer tillbaka den andra till dig.
• Nazism: Du har två kor. Staten tar båda korna och skjuter dig.
• Byråkrati: Du har två kor. Staten tar båda, skjuter den ena, mjölkar den andra och häller bort mjölken.
• Kapitalism: Du har två kor. Du säljer den ena och köper en tjur.
• Feminism: Du har inte två kor, du har två nötkreatur och det är upp till dem att bestämma om de är kor.
• Veganism: Du har inga kor.
