Boston College, katolskt universitet i Chestnut Hill (Bostons storstadsområde), Massachusetts, USA.
Boston College är ett privat universitet lokaliserat i Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Boston College campus är historiskt som ett av de tidigaste exemplen av kollegial gotisk arkitektur i Nordamerika. Universitetet ligger ungefär 10 kilometer väster om centrala Boston. Boston College fick rätt att redan 1863 kalla sig för universitet men har valt att använda College då det speglar universitetets tidiga historia som "liberal arts college" och förberedande skola i Bostons South End. Boston College var den första akademiska institutionen i Boston, dock senare förflyttad till det närbelägna Chestnut Hill. Idag är Boston College ett av de äldsta jesuitiska universiteten i USA och flaggskeppet för "the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

Tidig historia [redigera]
År 1825 blev jesuiten Benedict Joseph Fenwick, S.J., den andra biskopen av Boston. Han var den första att artikulera en vision om ett "college i staden Boston". 1827 öppnade biskop Fenwick en skola i källaren av sin katedral som riktade sig till stadens ungdom. Hans relationer till stadens protestantiska elit var dock ansträngda och avståndet till det jesuitiska centrumet i Maryland gjorde hämmade också fakulteten.
