Afrikanska mästerskapet i fotboll 1974 spelades i Egypten. Precis som under 1972 års turnering deltog åtta lag, i två fyralagsgrupper där de två bästa i varje grupp gick till semifinal. Zaïre vann turneringen för andra gången (första segern kom som DR Kongo), genom att spela 2–2 mot Zambia i finalen och slå dem med 2–0 i omspel. Zaire kvalificerade sig senare samma år för VM 1974.
