Utbredning

Kastanjebröstad gärdsmyg^[1] (Cyphorhinus thoracicus) är en fågel i familjen gärdsmygar inom ordningen tättingar.^[2]

Utbredning och systematik[redigera | redigera wikitext]

Kastanjebröstad gärdsmyg delas in i två underarter:^[2]

Cyphorhinus thoracicus dichrous – förekommer i centrala och västra Anderna från Colombia till Peru (San Martín)
Cyphorhinus thoracicus thoracicus - förekommer i tropiska och subtropiska Andernas östsluttning i sydöstra Peru (Huánuco till Puno)

Sedan 2016 urskiljer Birdlife International och naturvårdsunionen IUCN dichrous som den egna arten "nordlig kastanjebröstad gärdsmyg".

IUCN bedömer hotstatus för underarterna (eller arterna) var för sig, båda som livskraftiga.^[3]^[4]
