Marion Gibbons, född Marion McGowan Chesney den 10 juni 1936 i Glasgow, Skottland, död den 30 december 2019 i Gloucester, Storbritannien, var en skotsk författare.[1] Chesney använde flera olika pseudonymer i sitt författarskap: M. C. Beaton, Sarah Chester, Helen Crampton och Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine samt Charlotte Ward.

Chesney föddes 1936 i Glasgow, Skottland.[1] Hon arbetade inledningsvis som inköpare av fiktion vid den akademiska bokhandeln John Smith & Son i Glasgow och därefter som redaktör, teaterkritiker och reporter vid tidningen Scottish Daily Express.[2] Chesney gifte sig med Harry Scott Gibbons, mellanösternkorrespondent vid tidningen, 1969.[2] Tillsammans fick paret sonen Charles.[3] Famlijen flyttade sedermera till USA där Chesney och maken bland annat arbetade vid Rupert Murdochs tabloidtidning Star i New York.[3] Sedermera flyttade familjen tillbaka till Storbritannien och bodde bland annat i Cotswolds,[2] och när sonen flyttat hemifrån även i Paris.[3]
Chesney inledde sin författarbana 1979 genom att skriva historisk fiktion som Marion Chesney, en variant av flicknamnet.[3] Under pseudonymerna Sarah Chester, Helen Crampton, Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine och Charlotte Ward skrev hon även romantisk litteratur, och under pseudonymen M. C. Beaton skrev hon deckarromaner.[4] Sammantaget skrev Chesney över 150 böcker,[5] till vilka bland andra den Edvardianska deckarserien om Lady Rose Summer och kaptenen Harry Cathcart, serien om privatdetektiven Agatha Raisin samt serien om polisen Hamish Macbeth.[3]
