Enligt Catalogue of Life[60][61] ingår Enbjörnmossa i släktet björnmossor och familjen Polytrichaceae, men enligt Dyntaxa[62] är tillhörigheten istället släktet björnmossor och familjen Polytrichaceae. Arten är reproducerande i Sverige.[62] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[60]
