Haplochromis rufocaudalis[2] är en fiskart som först beskrevs av Ole Seehausen och Bouton, 1998. Haplochromis rufocaudalis ingår i släktet Haplochromis och familjen Cichlidae.[4][5] IUCN kategoriserar arten globalt som livskraftig.[1] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[4]
