Elect the Dead (2007) ?

Elect the Dead är System of a Down-sångaren Serj Tankians debutsoloalbum. Albumet släpptes officiellt den 22 oktober 2007, men redan den 18 oktober 2007 läckte albumet ut på internet^[1]. Serj spelade själv de flesta av instrumenten på albumet, men till sin hjälp hade han bland annat John Dolmayan (från System of a Down och Scars on Broadway) och hans egna band The F.C.C..

På frågan vad Serj vill ge för budskap med albumet, svarar han följande:

”	I guess if there was one thought that has been kind of haunting me and that I’ve been thinking about for the last couple of years, is the idea of what civilization means to me. The resources that we have, as civilization on the planet, are declining at an accelerated grade and the population is growing at an accelerated grade, so we got these two inverse graphs going, you know, in opposite directions… I just don’t think that it’s sustainable. Civilization itself is not sustainable. So I think my message, if there was one message, is that civilization is over. We need to decide what we're going to do next as humanity; how we are going to live together, how we are going to able to survive together.	”

Musikvideor har släppts till alla låtar på albumet, där varje video har olika regissörer. Serj förklarade detta med följande ord: "I asked each of the directors for their visual interpretation of my work. They were asked not to write treatments and that they could make whatever they liked. The results have been overwhelmingly amazing!"^[4].

Låten "Beethoven's C***" är nedladdningsbar till spelet Rock Band^[5] och låten "Lie Lie Lie" är öppningslåten till programmet Fear Itself, som går på NBC^[6].
