Julian Schwinger, född i New York City, New York 12 februari 1918, död i Los Angeles 16 juli 1994, nobelpristagare i fysik 1965. Delade priset med Richard Feynman och Sin-Itiro Tomonaga, "for their fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics, with deep-ploughing consequences for the physics of elementary particles".
